Redbirds Last Stint at Redbird Arena

Written by on February 27, 2020

NORMAL – The Illinois State Redbirds are back home for the final time this season as they take on #21 Missouri State Lady Bears and the Southern Illinois Salukis.

Missouri State comes into the game riding a 9-game win streak with an overall record of 13-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play, while Southern Illinois has a 7-7 record in conference play. Redbird Senior forward Megan Talbot expanded on how they are preparing for this very important weekend.

“For tomorrow, we’re gonna try out a couple new things defensively to just switch it up a little bit and increase our chances to win,” said Talbot. “We haven’t talked much about Southern yet. We still have a couple days to prepare but I think we’re all just really excited  because it’s our last home weekend and we’re just trying to play really well.”

As the season is wrapping up, the Redbirds currently have a 7-7 record in the MVC and are in a 3-way tie for the 5th seed in the MVC.

Talbot expanded on some of the keys for the Redbirds to climb the MVC rankings.“Play as a team and just play hard for one another and never give up.”

For the Redbirds, it is their last weekend at home as they take on Missouri State Thursday night starting at 7:30 followed by a Sunday afternoon match with Southern Illinois at 2:00 where seniors Frannie Corrigan, TeTe Maggett, Megan Talbot, and Lexi Wallen will be honored during a pregame ceremony.
