Dining with Doyle: The Beer Hall at DESTIHL Brewery – September 22, 2017

Dining with Doyle: The Beer Hall at DESTIHL Brewery – September 22, 2017

A big window with tanks of beer being made is the view you see when you pull up to The Beer Hall.

Part of the DESTIHL family, The Beer Hall is a new edition that opened in May of this year on 1200 Greenbriar Drive in Normal.  The expansion will now allow for DESTIHL to have an even bigger production facility to make and distribute their craft beer.

While this is a facility to mainly produce their very popular beverages, The Beer Hall also serves an exclusive menu for guests to come eat and drink.

The complex is gorgeous; with plenty of seating and a beautiful long bar, there are different options in order to enjoy your experience.

Whether that is sitting in the self of full-service area, guests can have the option of being very casual or going for a more traditional sit down type meal.   Regardless of what you choose, the setting and atmosphere is more than appealing.

There is also a beautiful outside area where guests can lounge around many different tables and also enjoy some yard games.

I got the pleasure of sitting down with Executive Chef Jacob Sartin who has been with the DESTIHL family for quite some time.  Starting at the Champaign gastrobrewpub, Sartin moved to the Normal restaurant and is now helping to develop the menu at The Beer Hall.

“This facility has a lot of opportunity of things we can’t do in the restaurants…we can eventually do catering and some private dining along with the brewery tours,” Sartin said.  “The food aspect is really going to drive what we do next…we know our beer is something our guests desire, so our food here we try to incorporate beer in almost every dish to highlight the special product we have.”

Chef had me try several different dishes, including the brewmaster board, synchopathic couscous, hot chicken sandwich, and pork rinds.

It was definitely not your typical pub fare, with a more high quality attention and precision you could taste the care in each dish.  The great thing about the menu is there is so much that can be shared amongst a group, or if you’re looking for a more individual meal you have those options.

This is a place that everyone around the community should check out, get together a group of friends one afternoon and go spend it at this place because you won’t be disappointed.

The Beer Hall at DESTIHL earns a score of 4.6 out of 5.

Tune in every Friday at the bottom of the hour on 103.3 WZND and WZND.com for a new edition of Dining with Doyle with WZND reporter Neil Doyle.
