NORMAL- The Kiwanis Club of Bloomington will host its annual Pancake Days on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.

Considered one of the club’s largest fundraisers, the event consists of pancakes, sausages, and coffee or milk being served to those who bought tickets for the occasion. Around 3,000 people usually attend the annual event, which has been held since 1951. There will also be a Book Fair taking place, where children’s books are sold through the Scholastic Books organization.

“The Kiwanis Club of Bloomington hosts several different fundraisers throughout the year in order to fund the different projects that we do throughout McLean County and serving our community,” Club Secretary Andrea Raycraft said.  “Pancake Days is one of those fundraising events.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards the club’s community service fund, which funds multiple projects, including Camp Limberlost. The camp, which is for local kids, takes place during the summer at Lake Bloomington.

“A lot of the children that go to the camp are just needing some assistance with peer interaction, social skills, and sometimes there is a financial need where they wouldn’t be able to afford to go to camp,” Raycraft said. “So we do fund the camp 100 percent for all individuals attending.”

Pancake Days goes from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on both days.
