NORMAL – The Illinois State School of Music and the College of Fine Arts will host its annual Band-A-Rama event this Friday.

Band-A-Rama is an annual event that allows the bands of ISU to showcase their programs to the public and especially high school band students. The two groups that will be featured are the Big Red Marching Machine and the ISU Wind Symphony.

The Wind Symphony will be conducted by Anthony Marinello III featuring compositions by David Maslanka and George W. Warren with accompanment from flute player Dr. Kim Risinger.

The Big Red Marching Machine will showcase their highlights during the 2017 ISU Football season including the ISU Alma Mater and Fight Song. The Big Red Marching Machine will also include a group of high school band students interested in joining band at ISU to join them during the ISU Football game Saturday.

The ISU Bands have set the goal for this event to help them show high school band students what the campus of ISU has to offer along with the solid music program. Big Red Marching Machine Director Polly Middleton explained the importance of the Band-A-Rama has on her band’s future.

” This is one way to bring people we do not usually have access to and show them a more concentrated Big Red Marching Machine environment,” said Big Red Marching Machine Director Polly Middleton. “I think ISU is a special place that allows to show what we can do and hope that students can come here to experience it first hand.”

The Band-A-Rama kicks off this Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.  in ISU’s Braden Auditorium.
