The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack

The highly anticipated movie 'New Moon' (second in the Twilight saga) has released its soundtrack to consumers. Much like the first movie's soundtrack, the disk features many (in this case 15) of today's up-and-coming artists as well as a few already established groups. One can find Death Cab for Cutie, Thom Yorke, The Killers, Anya Marina, and Muse on the album, along with rising indie groups such as Band Of Skulls, Sea Wolf, and Grizzly Bear. The soundtrack has a fair mix of mainstream and indie tracks, but I would overall say the album leans towards the later. I predict that from both this album's release and the movie's future release into theaters these songs will receive the ultimate promotion. 'Twilight' is the new Harry Potter, the new Beanie Babies, and in a way, the new 'O.C.'? MTV watch out; 'Twilight' has now surpassed you in the dual promotion game of throwing in popular songs to their video. The movie promotes the songs and in return, the songs consequently promote the film.
